For a long time I have wanted to play on an “American Ninja Warrior” obstacle course. I finally got to do just that!
I also got to interview one of the hosts (and friend of mine) of the show, Matt Iseman, and a couple of my favorite contestants, Jessie Graff and Kacy Catanzaro, at the season 7 finale of the NBC show screening Sept. 9 in Glendale, California.
I knew going in to the course that it was going to be hard, but standing from the contestant’s point of view on that course was even more intimidating.
The most difficult obstacle was definitely the “devil steps.” The name is fitting. In order to complete this obstacle, you need to have incredible upper body strength. I thought I was super strong, until I tried it.
The warped wall was, of course, bigger in real life than it looks from your living room. The coolest part was when my favorite contestant, Jessie Graff, came over to coach me through it!
In conclusion, I am not an American Ninja Warrior … yet.
